Edition 01 started as a question.

Not a brief. Not a mood board.

'Why should dressing well cost anything — thought, effort, compromise — when the rest of the day already costs enough?'

​It shouldn't. The intention should live in the shirt, not the wearer. That answer didn't exist. So it was made.

​

​​One year followed. A retired tailor. Fabric sourced and handled. Samples made, worn, discarded. The question never changed, while everything else changed until the answer was right.

One shirt. Already decided. So everything else could be.

The Fabric 

​

The linen in Edition 01 was not chosen from a catalogue. 

​

It was encountered first in another garment — worn, washed, lived in long enough to understand what it does. The mill behind it has been producing linen for generations. When it came time to source fabric for the shirt, there was no shortlist. There was only this. 

​

Linen was chosen because it behaves honestly. It breathes when it needs to, holds its structure when it should, and softens in a way that feels earned rather than engineered. Whether it becomes your favorite shirt is yours to decide. 

The Silhouette

Edition 01 was not designed on a screen. 

​

Every iteration began by hand — drawn, cut from fabric, sewn, and put on a body. Adjustments were marked directly on the cloth, the pattern redrawn, a new sample made from new fabric and tried again. It is a slow process. It is also the only process that tells you the truth, because a shirt on paper and a shirt on a person are two completely different objects.

The benchmark was the body in motion — seated, standing, reaching, walking. The shirt had to work in all of them without being adjusted between any of them. When it did, we stopped. 

The Fit

Edition 01 is genderless — and was always intended to be. 

​

The belief behind it is simple: a relaxed fit, made right, should be accessible to anyone who wants to wear it, regardless of gender, regardless of how they choose to style it. This was the intention from the beginning, and the making process confirmed it was possible.

One pattern. For anyone. 

The Factory 

​

Most of Hong Kong's garment factories are gone over the past three decades. What remains is rare. 

​

The factory producing Edition 01 occupies a single floor of a historical industrial building. It is family-owned, run by craftsmen who have been there long enough to remember when Hong Kong was a hub of the world. They have sized down, but not compromised. 

​

We approached them as an outsider with a conviction. Together we started building something neither of us had made before: a new category of shirt, produced the old way, in a city that almost forgot it knew how. 

​

They are not just a factory. They are the reason Edition 01 exists at all.
